New collaboration to exploit full potential of LED | 5 July 2011

A group of 30 European companies and academic institutions have entered into a collaboration to exploit the full potential of LED lighting.

Enlight will focus on integrated lighting solutions beyond retrofit applications and is aiming to further reduce the energy consumption of LED systems by 40 per cent compared to current technology.

One of the targets of the project is to develop more compact and efficient lighting electronics, drivers and controls, which together will lead to optimised LED modules. In addition, developments will be aimed at maximizing the impact of LED by improving its energy efficiency and lowering the system costs involved.

Part of the ENIAC Joint Undertaking (JU), Enlight is partly funded by the European Commission and member states.
